Gourmet hotel
The Alpenstern
Pleasure that inspires. Tranquillity that lasts.

This sums up the Alpenstern – what it is and what it feels like. A retreat at 1,580 metres in the Bregenzerwald, promising relaxation, indulgence and genuine hospitality. Completely informal and laid-back, yet stylish. A sincere promise that you can always count on. Whether you’re interacting with the Alpenstern team, savouring the excellent cuisine, browsing the exquisite wine list, or staying in the stylish rooms. And when you look out of the window – out onto one of Vorarlberg’s most beautiful mountain backdrops.

Hospitality across the generations

Naturally grown

In the 1980s, Bertram Bischof turned the former mountain farm with a few guest rooms into something special with the first floor showers in the whole village. Later, showers were added in every room and finally the Haide guesthouse was built with even more rooms. In 1997, it was converted into a four-star hotel and renamed the Alpenstern. In 2019, work began on the conversion/new construction of the Alpenstern as you can see it today. And even more is planned.

Sustainability

At the Alpenstern, we work with nature and use resources very responsibly out of conviction. For example, we built the house with a lot of local brown ash, we don't even need a car for ski-in/ski-out, which could produce exhaust fumes, and of course we follow a sustainable energy concept. We also pay attention to regionality when it comes to food and what is left over is not thrown away, but either passed on to nearby farms as animal feed or converted into energy. Would you like to find out more?

Energy efficiency

Which you can feel - but not see

A central element of our sustainability strategy is our energy concept. The Alpenstern is heated with heat from the local wood chip plant - sustainable, regional and with short transport routes. Heat recovery prevents energy losses. Our LED lighting with time and motion control ensures that light is only switched on when it is needed. And because we think ahead: soon, solar panels to generate hot water for our pool will complement our green approach.

Ski-In & Ski-Out

It could hardly be more sustainable

Thanks to our ski-in & ski-out location, you can start your winter sports fun directly from the hotel - no car, no transfers. Simply get out of the hotel and into the adventure. This not only reduces traffic, but also emissions.

Sustainability in detail

From the bread basket to waste separation

For us, sustainability doesn't stop at the hotel door. In our everyday lives, we make sure we use resources sparingly: we send organic waste to a biogas plant, where it is used to generate environmentally friendly electricity. We pass on leftover bread and suitable leftovers to farms in the region - as valuable animal feed instead of wasting food.

Wood

At the heart of our hotel

You can feel nature in every corner of the Alpenstern. We have built as much as possible with regional brown ash and constructed the rooms in a modular system - resource-saving and efficient. The wood brings warmth, cosiness and a healthy indoor climate - a real piece of the Alps you can touch.

Digitisation

We are also focussing on sustainability in the background: many of our internal processes have been converted to digital processes - from administration to guest communication. Less paper means less waste and more efficiency.

For us, sustainability isn’t just an added bonus, but an integral part of who we are – just like our location, which allows you to ski in and out without needing a car, or our wellness area, which is heated using energy from the woodchip plant.

“For us, awards are not an end in themselves –
but they show that we are on the right track.”

Wir sind seit zwei Jahren regelmäßige Gäste auf der Terrasse des Hotels. Ski- oder Wandertag in Damüls heißt gleichzeitig, dass wir dort einkehren.
