300 kilometres of hiking trails
From the alpine meadow to the summit
The Damüls-Faschina region is one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Vorarlberg. Over 300 marked kilometres lead through mountain forests, across high moors and blooming alpine meadows, past tranquil mountain lakes and through the Walser cultural landscape, which has remained unchanged for centuries.
The altitudes range from 1,400 to over 2,100 metres - so every hike has its own character.
Who for: Anyone who wants to experience the mountains quietly and without haste - also ideal for guests who are just arriving and familiarising themselves.
Around Damüls, gentle paths lead to the Alpe Oberdamüls, the Ugaalpe and across the Stofel high plateau. The Uga-Express chairlift takes guests comfortably up to 1,830 metres - from there, panoramic trails open up that demand little and give a lot in return.
The Damülser Mittagsspitze can be discovered on a leisurely diversions - with a view of the summit without having to climb it.
Example tour: Ugaalpe circular route from the Uga-Express mountain station | approx. 2-3 hours | easy
Who for: Experienced hikers looking for metres in altitude and views.
On a clear day, the view from the Sünser Joch extends as far as the Silvretta. If you continue, you will reach the idyllic Sünser See - nestled between mountain peaks, almost surreally quiet. The Damüls circular tour combines Hochblanken, Ragazer Blanken and Sünser Joch to create one of the most impressive day tours in the region.
The Zafernhorn is also one of the most rewarding destinations: The view from the summit is special - and simply unforgettable at sunrise.
Example tour: Damülser Rundtour (Mittagsspitze - Hochblanken - Sünser Joch - Oberdamülser Alpe) | approx. 10.5 km | 4-5 hours | medium to challenging
Who for: Mountain-experienced guests with a summit goal and a love of heights.
The Damülser Mittagsspitze at 2,095 metres is Damüls' local mountain - and for many the centrepiece of their hiking holiday. The ascent over the airy ridge requires surefootedness, but rewards you with a summit experience that will stay with you for a long time.
The Portlahorn offers a different kind of summit experience: the trail leads over the Seven Hills and the Sünserjoch, with views of Lake Sünser, up to over 2,000 metres. The Stofel high plateau on the way back invites you to take a final rest - quiet, wide, beautiful.
Example tour: Portlahorn via Sieben Hügel and Sünserjoch | approx. 5-6 hours | challenging
Experience Walser history on foot
Damüls is a Walser village. More than 700 years ago, Walsers from the Valais settled here - and left behind alpine huts, chapels and farm buildings that still stand today. The tour "Around the Walser settlement" (approx. 10.5 km, 4.5 hours) follows these traces through meadows and forests around Oberdamüls.
History walks with you here. Quietly, quite naturally.
After hiking
Peace, water, pleasure
A good day's hiking doesn't end at the car park. The second, quiet part begins at the Alpenstern: relaxing in the wellness area, warm water, fresh air on the balcony. Culinary delights at a high level in the evening - Alpine cuisine, finely tuned, accompanied by wine.
If you like, you can round off the day at the Bar Novum.
