A gourmet wedding at 1,580 metres – Get married at the Hotel Alpenstern in Damüls

Cuisine you’ll never forget. Wine to go with it. A place that leaves a lasting impression.

Just imagine: you say ‘I do’ – with the peaks of the Bregenzerwald behind you, at 1,580 metres, whilst down in the valley, everyday life comes to a standstill. The evening begins with champagne on the roof terrace. Then the guests take their seats at the table – for a menu from the kitchen of the Genusshalde restaurant, awarded two Gault-Millau toques, accompanied by wines personally selected for you by Maximilian Steinfeld, Vorarlberg’s Best Sommelier 2026.

This is a gourmet wedding at the Hotel Alpenstern. No buffet for three hundred people, no soulless venue. A mountain wedding in the Bregenzerwald with class, with fine dining, with a wine cellar – and with the quiet luxury that means nobody has to drive the next morning, as all guests are staying right here at the hotel.

For couples who expect more than just a beautiful venue.

Die Küche

The wedding menu

tailored to individual needs, at a 2-toque level

At the heart of every wedding at the Alpenstern is the kitchen of the Genusshalde restaurant – awarded two Gault-Millau toques. Head chef Sandro Abel cooks with regional ingredients: fresh, seasonal and prepared with artisanal precision. Together, we’ll create your personalised wedding menu – tailored to your wishes, the season and your guests.

Whether three courses or five, whether classic or unexpected: your wedding menu is not a ready-made package, but a dialogue between the kitchen and the bride and groom. At the tasting – which we warmly recommend – you’ll sample the dishes, make your decisions and fine-tune the menu. This way, the evening becomes an experience even before it begins.

To kick things off, we’ll welcome your guests with exquisite canapés from our kitchen: smoked salmon with horseradish, beef tartare with quail’s egg, mountain cheese with grapes – the evening’s first impression, carefully crafted.

Maximilian Steinfeld

Your sommelier for the happiest day of your life

Some weddings are also remembered for the wine. At the Alpenstern, that comes as no surprise. Maximilian Steinfeld – named Vorarlberg’s Best Sommelier in 2026 – oversees a wine cellar containing over 2,500 wines: it has been honoured with the Wine Spectator Award, the StarWineList award and named Wine List of the Year 2026 (Gault Millau).

Max will advise you personally. He knows every drop, every vintage, every vineyard. And he knows which wine pairs with the first starter, which with the main course – and which one to open when everyone raises their glass.

On request: a personalised blind tasting with Max, which can be combined with the tasting menu. Some winemakers also offer exclusive large-format bottles with customised wedding labels – please do get in touch.

Der Wein

The wedding ceremony

Three ways to say ‘I do’ – in Damüls

A non-religious wedding ceremony on the roof terrace

The Alpenstern’s roof terrace offers unobstructed views over Damüls. A panoramic vista at 1,580 metres, with nothing to block the sky. The perfect spot for an open-air wedding ceremony in the mountains – personalised to your tastes, against a backdrop that needs no decoration.

A non-religious wedding ceremony at Stofel Chapel

Set in a high-altitude meadow at around 1,680 metres, surrounded by mountain peaks: the Stofel Chapel attracts bridal couples from across the Alpine region to Damüls. No walls, no roof – just you, your guests and the vast expanse of the Damüls mountains.

Church wedding – St Nicholas Parish Church

The parish church of St Nicholas is within walking distance of the hotel – one of the most beautiful village churches in the Bregenzerwald, with seating for up to 120 people.

Reception, celebration, bar

everything under one roof

The evening begins after the wedding ceremony. The champagne reception – on our sun terrace, in the Genusshalde or on the roof terrace – sets the tone. Then comes the reception: for up to 130 guests, with seating arranged to your specifications, and a dance floor for a DJ or band.

If you book the hotel exclusively, the lounge, the Kaminstube and the Bar Novum – awarded the title of Falstaff Bar Jewel of the Year 2025 – are also at your disposal. Celebrate until 6.00 am.

Venue hire: €3,000 (one-off fee, including set-up, rearrangement and deep clean)
